Panforte

As we near the holiday season and Italian markets fill with seasonal specialties, the typical Sienese fruitcake called “Panforte” is amongst the most popular. Dating back to the 12th century, Panforte is made from mixing fruit, nuts, spices, and flour (just enough to bind the ingredients) with a boiled sugar and honey syrup. The candy-like texture and flavor is hard to resist. Buon appetito!
