Aquileia

Located in the northeastern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the town of Aquileia is currently home to a population of 3,000 people. However, because of its strategic location at the confluence of several important Roman roads, it was once one of the largest and wealthiest cities of the Roman Empire. Traces of its former greatness can still be seen today in the incredibly well-preserved ancient Roman mosaics and Early Christian basilica. Buona visita!
