The “Virgin Annunciate” was painted by the great Sicilian painter Antonello da Messina in 1476 and is currently located in the Palazzo Abatellis in Palermo, Sicily. It depicts the Virgin Mary almost as a portrait and apparently interrupted at her reading by the Archangel Gabriel. The relatively simple composition and restrained palette lend to the extraordinary spirituality of the piece. Buona visione!
