“The Feast in the House of Simon the Pharisee” is one of several grandiose “feast” paintings by Paolo Veronese. It was painted in 1556 for the refectory of San Nazaro and Celso in Verona, Italy, but is located today in the Galleria Sabauda in Turin. Classical style architecture serves as the backdrop to a scene that looks more like late 16th century Venice than the ancient Middle East. To the far right, Mary Magdalene anoints the feet of Christ with oil. Buona visione!
