"The Chain Map of Florence"
Located in the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio, the “Chain Map of Florence” offers an extraordinarily detailed bird’s-eye view of Florence in the 1470s. The 19th-century painting is the first known example of such a detailed topographical depiction of Florence. It is referred to as “Chain Map” because of the presence of a decorative chain motif border around the entirety of the painting. Buona visita!
