"The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli

Depicting Venus emerging from the sea as a fully formed woman, the “Birth of Venus” is one of the most famous paintings from the Italian Renaissance. The painting is believed to have been commissioned by the Medici family to decorate a recently purchased villa and is one of the earliest examples of a classical mythological subject in Renaissance art.
