The “Sarcophagus of the Spouses” is an Etruscan tomb effigy that was created in the late 6th century BCE. It was found in the ancient Etruscan necropolis of Cerveteri and is located today in the National Etruscan Museum in the Villa Giulia in Rome, Italy. Made of terracotta and once brightly painted, the sarcophagus depicts a man and a woman propped up on cushions reclining on a couch as if they were dining. Buona visione!
