“Portrait of a Musician”, Leonardo da Vinci, Ambrosian Library, Milan

While not universally accepted as a work by Leonardo da Vinci, the “Portrait of a Musician” in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy, remains one of the most beautiful paintings of the Italian Renaissance. The painting depicts a bust-length image of a young man in a three-quarter view, in whose right hand is a folded piece of sheet music. It was most likely painted in the last quarter of the 15th century in oil paint on walnut panel and is unfinished. Buona visione!
