"Dream of Constantine" Piero della Francesca

The “Dream of Constantine” was painted around 1450 by Piero della Francesca in the Bacci Chapel in the Church of San Francesco in Arezzo, Italy. The stunning nighttime/early morning scene is part of the famous “Legend of the True Cross” cycle and shows the legendary moment when an angel appeared to Emperor Constantine and told him “In hoc signo vinces” (“In this sign, though shall conquer”) – referring to the Holy Cross. Buona visione!
