"The Passion of Artemisia: A Novel" by Susan Vreeland

Artemisia Gentileschi might just be the hottest artist of 2020. A monograph exhibit on the great Baroque painter opens on April 4 (until July 26) at the NGA in London – the first-ever in England. Every collector in the world is looking to acquire one of her works – e.g. her gorgeous “Lucretia” painting which sold for just over $6M in November ’19.

Susan Vreeland’s historical fictional account of the artist’s life is a vivid picture of prejudice, misogyny and injustice being overcome by sheer talent, strength and determination. Add to that the extraordinary cast of historical personalities and backdrop of Renaissance Italian cities, and it really makes for a great read.
