"The Leopard" by Giovanni Tomasi di Lampedusa

Published posthumously in 1958, this novel describes the changes in Sicilian life and society during the unification of Italy in the second half of the 19th century by telling the story of the nobleman Don Fabrizio Corbera, who finds himself surrounded by civil war and revolution.
