Leon Battista Alberti led an artistic revolution with his work “On Painting”. This book went on to inspire many of the great Renaissance painters, including Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, and Masaccio, among others. This comes as no surprise, considering that Alberti believes painting to be the highest form of art. In “On Painting” Alberti describes linear perspective and painting from nature in detail, two major innovations that came to define the works of the Renaissance.
