"Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and The Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" by Robert M. Edsel

What a better way to start Memorial Day than with “Monuments Men”. This true story tells of the Allied soldiers whose mission it was to protect and rescue art during World War II, particularly art looted by the Nazis and Hitler. Most of the soldiers involved worked with art in some form in their civilian lives, and felt it was important to protect these objects from the war. Because of these dedicated artists and architects turned soldiers, along with help from civilians, many of the artifacts looted during wartime were recovered intact.
