"Botticelli's Uffizi Adoration" by Rab Hatfield
Written by my former professor and mentor, Rab Hatfield, this volume thoroughly examines the relationship Botticelli’s famous painting had with its original surroundings in Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy, and the significance of the work for its patron – Guasparre dal Lama. Hatfield also analyzes Botticelli’s imagery in relationship to the tenets of medieval and Renaissance theology, and its meaning in the social context of late 15th-century Florence. A must for any Renaissance library. Buona lettura!
