“Italian Renaissance Masterpieces” at the J. Paul Getty Museum – In-person Lecture Tour with Dr. Rocky

After sold-out lecture tours at the Met in New York City, the NGA in Washington, DC, the Kimbell in Fort Worth, the MFA and Isabella Stewart Gardner in Boston, the Art Institute in Chicago, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the DIA in Detroit, join Dr. Rocky for an in-depth analysis of the great Italian Renaissance masterpieces at the J. Paul Getty Museum. We shall examine works from the 14th through the 17th centuries by masters such as Bernini, Titian, Carpaccio, Parmigianino, Giambologna and Masaccio. Special emphasis will be given to the exquisite “Portrait of a Halberdier” by Pontormo, which was purchased by the Getty in 1989 for the considerable sum of $32.5 million dollars; and the “Lucretia” by Artemisia Gentileschi, which was purchased in 2021 for an undisclosed amount.
