Segesta

Segesta is an ancient city in Sicily, inhabited by the indigenous Elymians and located on Mt. Barbaro. Hellenized early in its history, Segesta is home to one of the world’s best preserved Doric temples which dates back to the 5th century BCE. The temple was never completed due to the war between Segesta and nearby Selinunte; and it managed to escape destruction by the Carthaginians in the late 5th century BCE. Buona visita!
