This tour will take place in the Accademia Gallery, the 19^th-century museum built to house Michelangelo’s David, known in Florence as “Il Gigante”. The statue of David has been heralded as the greatest expression of sculpture of all time. While standing in the great shadow of the sculpture, we shall explore all aspects of the David’s style and history. This tour will also examine Michelangelo’s unfinished Slaves, which reveal much about the artist’s sculpting process.
