This book is a great source of reference for anyone interested in the High Renaissance and Mannerist periods. While the text focuses primarily on artists in the Italian peninsula, Murray also touches on artists outside of Italy – including Albrecht Durer, El Greco, and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. “The High Renaissance and Mannerism” offers a great introduction to these two periods of art history.
