POP-UP WEBINAR | “Siena: The Rise of Painting”

If you missed this extraordinary exhibition at the Met, or if you plan on seeing it at the National Gallery in London (3/8/25 – 6/22/25), or if you simply love Sienese painting,  join Dr. Rocky for this pop-up webinar where he will explore the amazing masterpieces in the exhibit. Many works are being reunited for the first time in centuries – such as the 8 known predella panels from the backside of Duccio’s “Maestà” on loan from museums around the world. Others are finally receiving the attention they deserve, such as Pietro Lorenzetti’s “Pieve Altarpiece” or Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s stunning “Annunciation.” Others still will bedazzle you with their jewel-like treatment of gold gilding, such as Simone Martini’s “Madonna and Child.” Discover the tremendous impact of medieval Sienese painting on Western art through this exhibit that showcases the work of an extraordinary group of Sienese artists!

The event will include a 45-minute lecture followed by 15-minutes of Q&A.
