Panzerotti

Typical of the Apulia region of Italy, “Panzerotti” are often described as Italian “turnovers.” They are a deep-fried savory specialty usually filled with tomatoes and mozzarella and resemble a small calzone. The term “panzerotto” derives from “panza” or “pancia,” which means “belly,” referring to the central bulge of the panzerotto – but also to your own “panza” if you eat too many! Buon appetito!
