Frutta Martorana

Frutta Martorana is a marzipan sweet in the form of fruits and vegetables typical of Palermo and Trapani in Sicily. Legend maintains that the sweet originated when Benedictine nuns in Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio in Palermo decorated empty fruit trees with marzipan to impress a visiting archbishop. Buon appetito!
