Cavallucci di Siena

Cavallucci are a dessert typical of Siena and are made with flour, anise, candied fruits, walnuts, and honey. Many believe that their name comes from the fact they were imprinted with images of horses (“cavallo” in Italian), while others believe cavallucci were eaten by mail delivery men who traveled long distances on horseback. Either way, they are deliziosi. Buon appetito!
