The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore (Venice)

The island of San Giorgio Maggiore is one of the islands of Venice. Visible from San Mark’s square, the island’s most famous landmark is its homonymous 16th-century Palladian church. A Benedictine monastery adjoins the beautiful church and is today the headquarters of the Cini Foundation, an historic Italian cultural organization. The bell tower of the church offers beautiful views out over the lagoon and offers spectacular views of the Doge’s Palace and Basilica of St. Mark. Buona visita!
