Scuola Grande di San Rocco, Venice

The Scuola Grande of San Rocco in Venice, Italy, is the only active “scuola,” or confraternity, in the city. It has maintained its original appearance and magnificent decoration – nearly all of which was by Tintoretto – for the last five centuries. It is also my absolute favorite monument in all of Venice. The most spectacular room is the up-stairs chapter hall which is full of magnificent Old and New Testament paintings by Tintoretto and is what I like to call “The Sistine Chapel of Venice!” Buona visita!
