The refectory of Santa Croce in Florence, Italy, was the dining hall of the Franciscan friars. It was built in the first half of the 14thcentury and still contains some of its original decorations, including Taddeo Gaddi’s magnificent “Lignum Vitae” fresco. Since the early 20th century, the refectory is also home to Donatello’s “St. Louis of Toulouse” which stands in a plaster cast niche made from the original at Orsanmichele. Buona visita!
