Porto Ercole is a beautiful seaside town located on the Monte Argentario peninsula in southwestern Tuscany, whose name means “the Port of Hercules.” It is home to several fortresses and a charming city center. Not surprisingly, it is considered “Uno dei Borghi Più Belli d’Italia” (“One of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages”). But Porto Ercole is best known as the place where the famous painter Caravaggio died in 1610. Buona visita!
