Museo Nazionale della Magna Græcia (Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia), Reggio Calabria

Located in the southern Italian city of Reggio Calabria – just a short ferry ride from Messina, Sicily – the museum houses an archeological collection from sites throughout Magna Græcia (“Greater Greece”).  The museum houses two of the world’s most important sculptures known as the “Riace Bronzes.” Discovered off the coast of a Calabrian town called Riace in 1972, the two spectacular bronze statues are but a few surviving ancient Greek sculptures, nearly all which were melted down throughout the centuries. Buona visita!
