Montalcino

Located 42km (26mi) south of Siena, the hill town of Montalcino is known worldwide for its extraordinary wine – Brunello di Montalcino. But there is much more to this town than just wine. The town is still crowned by a 14th-century castle. Its main piazza is home to a 14th-century civic palace, complete with medieval tower. Charming, shop and restaurant-lined narrow streets abound. And if all that is not enough, how about the magnificent 12th-century church and abbey of Sant’ Antimo down at the bottom of the hill. Buona visita!
