Carafa Chapel, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Rome

Located in the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in Rome, the Carafa Chapel contains a beautiful fresco cycle by the Florentine painter Filippino Lippi. Painted for the Dominican cardinal Oliviero Carafa between 1488 and 1493, the frescoes depict Marian themes such as the “Assumption of the Virgin Mary” on the back wall of the chapel and Dominican themes such as the “Dispute of St. Thomas Aquinas” on the right wall. Buona visita!
