"Virgin and Child with St. Anne" by Leonardo da Vinci

Although commissioned in 1499 by French King Louis XII, Leonardo did not execute the painting until several years later. It is one of several works by Leonardo in the Louvre in Paris, and in 1910 the “Virgin and Child with St. Anne” received the extraordinary attention of Sigmund Freud. The “Father of Psychoanalysis” pointed out a hidden shape in the painting which he claimed was related to one of Leonardo’s few recorded childhood memories. Buona visione!
