The first painting by the artist to arrive in the US and the largest outside of Italy, this exquisite polyptych, painted around 1320, was originally in the Servite church in Orvieto. Flanked by Saints Paul, Mary Magdalene, Catherine of Alexandria and John the Baptist, the Christ Child tenderly caresses the cheek of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while a triumphant Christ and angels look down from the surmounting pinnacles.
