"Tityus" by Titian (Prado)

Painted by Titian in 1548 for the sister of Charles V, Mary of Hungary, “Tityus” depicts the giant Tityus who was condemned by Zeus to have his liver perpetually eaten by vultures. The same theme was  also treated by Michelangelo in a drawing now located in the Royal Collection in London. Titian’s painting is instead located in the Prado Museum in Madrid. Buona visione!
