“The Tempest” by Giorgione

Notwithstanding his life and artistic career were cut short by plague in 1510, while the artist was in his thirties, Giorgione revolutionized European painting by his introduction of enigmatic and unconventional iconography. His “Tempest” is located in the Accademia Gallery in Venice and has baffled art historians regarding its strange but beautiful imagery. A nude woman nurses a child as a young man looks on and a tempest rages in the background. Buona visione!
