"The Holy Trinity" by Masaccio

Painted in 1427, Masaccio’s Holy Trinity in the church of Santa Maria Novella might just be the most important painting in Florence, Italy. It is considered to be the first Renaissance-style painting and the first-ever painting to apply single-point perspective. In fact, geometry and algebra were not only part of the construction of the three-dimensional space, but also a surprising way to illustrate important theological doctrines.
