The “Battle of Anghiari” is a 16th-century drawing that was acquired and then extended by Peter Paul Rubens in the 17th century. It is in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, where it is referred to as “The Battle for the Standard.” Arguably the best-known reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous lost mural, the drawing is meant to depict the furious central episode of a much larger and more populated battle scene. Buona visione!
