"St. Louis of Toulouse" by Donatello

The gilded bronze statue of “St. Louis of Toulouse” was created by Donatello in 1423 for the Church of Orsanmichele in Florence, Italy. It was later moved to the Basilica of Santa Croce where it can be found today. Donatello was also responsible for the magnificent classically inspired niche in which the statue is displayed, which later inspired the architecture of Masaccio’s revolutionary painting “The Holy Trinity.” Buona visione!
