“St. Longinus bozzetto” by Bernini in Harvard Art Museums
Located in the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge, MA, the clay model of “St. Longinus” is just one work in the world’s largest collections of Bernini bozzetti (preparatory models). This model may have served as the presentation piece for Pope Urban VIII (since it has traces of gilding) for Bernini’s colossal marble statue of “St. Longinus” (1629) in the crossing of St. Peter’s. Buona visione!
