Palatine Chapel, Palermo
The Palatine Chapel is the sumptuous royal chapel of the Norman Palace in Palermo, Sicily. It was commissioned by the Norman King of Sicily, Roger II, in 1132, and combines Byzantine, Norman and Islamic architectural styles. 12th-century glittering mosaics adorn most of the walls and central dome, while a breathtaking muqarnas ceiling covers the nave. Buona visita!
