"Libyan Sibyl" by Michelangelo

Michelangelo’s Sistine ceiling fresco of the “Libyan Sibyl” – a prophetic priestess presiding over the Oracle of Zeus-Ammon in the Libyan desert – is one of the most stunning paintings of the Renaissance. Michelangelo depicts an incredibly muscular figure dressed in orange-gold robes twisting dramatically in what is known as a figura serpentinata” pose. Buona visione!
