"Creation of the Sun and the Moon" (Sistine Chapel Ceiling) by Michelangelo

One of the nine main scenes from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling paintings (1508-1512), the “Creation of the Sun and the Moon” is a very “Hollywood” style interpretation of the Biblical subject from the Book of Genesis. A super-hero-like God the Father soars through the air and with his right hand orders the sun into existence and with his left conjures up the moon. On the left, we see God’s B-side as he creates vegetation in the lower left-hand corner. Buona visione!
