"Consequences of Good Government" by Lorenzetti

Painted by Ambrogio Lorenzetti in 1337 as part of his “Allegory of Good and Bad Government” fresco cycle in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena, Italy, the “Consequences of Good Government” is a painting that was meant to incentivize Siena’s ruling council. By showing the positive effects of good government in both the urban and rural sphere, rulers could clearly see the consequences of their positive actions. The fresco is also one of the most vivid visual records of daily life the Middle Ages. Buona visione!
