"Annunciation" by Lorenzo di Credi
Set within an incredibly detailed domestic interior, Lorenzo di Credi’s beautiful “Annunciation” is in the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Italy, and depicts the dramatic moment when the Archangel Gabriel “announces” to Mary that she is to be the mother of Christ. The two figures are set at the sides of the painting to showcase the beautiful landscape background through the monochrome architectural backdrop. The lower parapet of the painting instead depicts three Old Testament scenes of the “Creation of Eve,” “Original Sin,” and “The Expulsion from Eden.” Buona visione!
