Venice’s Essentials in 1 day…
Morning – Scuola di San Rocco Church and Church of the Frari:
We will start our visits with the Scuola di San Rocco which is often described as the “Sistine Chapel of Venice”. Decorated entirely with paintings by the great Tintoretto, the still-active Scuola continues to represent one of Venice’s most important religious and social traditions.
We will then continue with a visit to the Church of Frari. The 14th-century Franciscan church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari is the second largest church in Venice after the Basilica of St. Mark. In addition to housing extraordinary paintings by Bellini and Titian, and monuments to Titian and Canova, the church is also one of the city’s greatest expressions of Venetian Gothic architecture.
Lunch Break – Lunch can be arranged at a local, traditional restaurant in Venice.
Afternoon – Accademia Gallery:
The Accademia Gallery houses Venice’s most important and representative collection of paintings, including works by Giovanni and Gentile Bellini, Carpaccio, Giorgione, Titian and Tintoretto.
