Bargello Museum
Museo dell’Opera del Duomo
The Bargello Gallery is the National Sculpture Gallery of Florence and contains many of the great works by artists such as Donatello, Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, Verrocchio and Michelangelo.
Through an in-depth analysis of these works, we will trace the development of Renaissance sculpture from the famous baptistery door competition of 1401 to the eclectic bronze David by Donatello.
We will then continue our lecture to the Cathedral museum which contains one of the most important collections of sculptures’ in the city, which includes Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise and Michelangelo’s second Pieta’.
