I was hesitant to read this book because it was written by someone “not in the business”. I also worried that Isaacson would take an art historical approach by using Leonardo’s works to bookmark his life. Then there was the risk that this book would feed the “Mona Lisa” craze by amplifying the sensationalism that surrounds the painting even more. Well, despite all these concerns – which, by the way, are all present in this book – Isaacson did indeed succeed in producing a layman’s biography worthy of the Renaissance genius.
