POP-UP WEBINAR | Titian at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
Presented by Dr. Rocky Ruggiero
Join Dr. Rocky for this virtual tour of the extraordinary exhibition “Titian: Women, Myth, and Power” at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which ends on January 2, 2022. Titian’s six “poesie” – or “painted poems” – depicting subjects from classical Antiquity that were painted for King Philip II of Spain are reunited for the first time in four centuries. The “poesie” represent a landmark in the history of western art and exemplify the Venetian master’s late style that was characterized by dramatic subjects, sensual forms, and loose, almost “impressionistic” brushwork.
The event will include a 45-minute lecture followed by 15-minutes of Q&A.
