J. Paul Getty Museum “Italian Renaissance Masterpieces” In-person Lecture Tour with Dr. Rocky
After sold-out lecture tours at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, and the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth Texas, join Dr. Rocky Ruggiero for an in-depth analysis of the great Italian Renaissance masterpieces in the J. Paul Getty Museum collection. We shall examine works from the 14th through the 17th centuries by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Parmigianino, Giambologna and Bernini. Particular emphasis will be given to the exquisite Portrait of a Halberdier by Jacopo Pontormo, which was purchased by the Getty in 1989 for the considerable sum of $32.5 million dollars.
