WEBINAR RECORDING | “Leonardo da Vinci and the London Virgin of the Rocks”
Presented by Dr. Rocky Ruggiero
In 1483, Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned by the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception to paint an altarpiece for their chapel in the church of San Francesco Grande in Milan. Due to a disagreement, it appears that the altarpiece was never delivered, and a second version was later produced. This free webinar will examine the second version of the “Virgin of the Rocks,” now located in the National Gallery of Art in London and examine how it compares to the “earlier” version located in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
